The MUSIC CLUB of Reading-Berks

On Dec. 11, 1904, Miss Viola Johnson, a music teacher residing at 205 Oley St., Reading, called 12 musicians to her home for the purpose of planning monthly musicals for the pleasure and benefit of the partipants, and to create among them a feeling of musical brotherhood.

Thus was established the Music Club of Reading-Berks, dedicated to the support and enjoyment of music and musicianship.

In the years since, virtually every local classically-inclined major musical talent has held membership at some point - including two stars of the Metropolitan Opera and a world-class flutist, pianist, harpist, and conductor.

Anyone interested in obtaining a four-page illustrated history of the Music Club may receive a copy, gratis, by mail by writing to us at Box 1, Limekiln, PA 19535.
